Does Jesus’ Church Teach Error?

thCA96FK7W
Infallibility – Who has it? Who did Jesus give His authority to? For a Catholic Christian, the answer is, “Peter and the Apostles and the Church he founded. That Church still has the authority to speak for Him in the area of ‘faith and morals’ because of the laying on of hands up until this very day.” But, for many Christians outside the Catholic Church, there is no man who is infallible, much less a Church. “MORAL TRUTH” – Is it Black and White, or a Shade of Gray?

th[5] Two thousand years ago, a man named Pontius Pilate asked Jesus the question “WHAT IS TRUTH? (Jn 18:38)”. According to Webster dictionary, truth is simply “the property of being in accord with fact or reality.” For a statement to be true it must agree with knowledge (fact or reality), or be logically correct, or both, depending upon the context.

Is there Absolute Truth or Is all Truth Relative? The biggest obstacle to finding truth today is “relativism,” especially when it comes to those most important questions of faith, morals, and life’s meaning. Continue reading

Salvation Outside the Catholic Church

th[6] What is meant by the teaching , “There is no salvation outside the Catholic Church?” Does this mean that a person cannot be saved unless he is a formal member of the Catholic Church? Well, people outside the visible boundaries of the Catholic Church have the possibility to be saved if they had never heard of Jesus Christ or had never rejected him.

First of all, let us look at what Jesus says in John 14:6, Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” So, we see in Jesus’ words that a person will only be saved through him. Continue reading

Why are Catholic priests called “Father?”

thCAOS0X36 In the Bible, Jesus says, “Call no one on earth your father; you have but one Father in heaven (Matthew 23:9).” What did Jesus mean when he said this. Are we to take this saying literally? Are we not allowed to refer to our dad as father? Of course not!
If you would look up the word father in a Bible concordance, you would discover 124 instances in the New Testament alone where human beings are called “father” (Greek: pater). Continue reading

Who is the founder of your Church?

thCA036GR2 Why are there so many different Christian churches? It is estimated to be that there are over 33,000 different Christian denominational churches throughout the world. Some are of no denomination. A “non-denominational Christian,” might very well be a non-affiliated Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Baptist, etc. So, did Jesus create all these churches?

Who founded your church? Continue reading

Did Jesus found a Visible or Invisible Church?

church[1] Since we just celebrated the day when the Church came into being, Pentecost, I thought it would be a good time to ask the question, “What is the Church?” Well, many well meaning Christians believe that Jesus’ church is made up of an invisible union of all who genuinely trust in Christ. They believe that the Church that Jesus speaks about protecting in Scripture (Matt 16:18-19) is an invisible, “spiritual” Church. Jesus’ Church is not one particular visible institution. In other words, they might have members in a local church, but the church is still not thought of in a physical reality. But what does Scripture have to say about this reality? Continue reading

Sacrament of Marriage: One Man and one Woman

th[5] Everywhere you turn today, you can’t get away from the debate. You will find it on television news, headlines in the newspapers, magazines and discussed in just about every state legislature. It is impossible to escape the debate over same-sex marriage. So, what is the true meaning of marriage? For a Christian, the answer is a no-brainer. So why all of the fuss? It seems that if someone holds to the true definition of marriage, then the politically correct crowd will be all over you like “white on rice.” Now, I understand that the topic of marriage is a sensitive issue for some people with same-sex attractions. They feel that they should be able to marry someone of the same sex. But, the problem with that, is the real definition of marriage. I would have to respond politely to someone who makes that argument with, “you don’t have a beef with me, but with God!” Instead of redefining the meaning of marriage, another word could be used in it’s place.   Continue reading

Sunday Worship: Are we seeking to be entertained?

th[11] In the past few weeks, I have been told by a couple of parishioners that one of their relatives have started to worship on Sunday mornings in a non-denominational church around the corner. The reason that was given for why, was not because of the theological content, but purely on the entertainment value of the service. Since a good part of my website seeks to reach out to non-practicing Catholics and those who have fallen away from the faith, I will put most of my focus towards them, although this pertains to all of Christendom. Receiving the graces of Jesus

th[9] No matter what Christian faith tradition you belong to, you probably had a hard time finding a parking place or a seat at your local church today. That’s because Easter Sunday goes to the heart of Christianity. After his sacrifice on Good Friday, Jesus overcame death on Sunday. Because of “Resurrection Sunday,” you and I have been given the opportunity to spend all of eternity with him after our journey in this life comes to an end. Continue reading

Will the new Pope bring “drastic” changes to the Catholic Church?

gty_pope_francis_jt_130316_wg[1] Even before the election of Pope Francis, many people were speculating that he needed to make drastic changes to the Church. That he needs to start to conform to this generations values and ideas. That he needs to steer the Church out of the old way of thinking and into the modern way. Well, sorry to be a wet blanket, but that’s just not going to happen. Continue reading
